I have to say it's a pretty cool feeling to wake up and see your song on EQD, regardless of it's fairly subtle pony-content, and the fact that I didn't even send it to them. Much love to whoever it was that got this song up there! ^^
So It's been a while since I've uploaded much of anything. Perhaps some sort of explanation is in order.
Well when I got the idea to do the Mane 6 series, it wasn't at all fleshed out in the slightest. Basically the idea was for me to do tracks inspired by the main characters of FiM to sort of initiate myself into the brony music scene. I was very excited about it and tried my best to launch out songs as often as I could. I wrote a large amount of material in a very short amount of time, and ,most of it was left unrecorded, because it was mainly unfleshed ideas and riffs in my head, and lyrics with no real direction or meaning. It was fun, but it was quite overwhelming at the same time. I wanted to do all these things, write all these songs, I even had a lineup of people to do collaborations with that may or may not still happen. I got the ambitious idea that I'd put all these songs in an album and...
Well I guess you can see where I'm going with this. My ambition got ahead of me and I was left with a severe case of writer's block. I wasn't happy with anything I was writing, and when I look back at some of my earlier unrecorded ideas, it just doesn't seem like something I could be happy with.
If you guys had been following my Facebook page, you'd know I went on a bit of a hiatus, which honestly lasted longer than I intended. I got buried in personal shit, work, and basically burying myself in video games so I didn't have to think about anything else. Music quickly got left on the shelf. Long story short, I hit a block, and instead of trying to get over it, I got lazy and did something else.
But I've been writing again. Still want to finish Twilight's song, which would be the last of the Mane 6 series, but that'll probably take a back seat for now. I think the biggest problem was I was writing what I thought I was supposed to write as opposed to what I actually wanted to do. So for the time being, I'm just going to be writing whatever. MLP-related, not MLP related, just whatever inspires me, really (Though it'll most likely be pretty pony-related. It's a pretty inspiring subject).
This song was actually recorded a while back. It was a submission for Faithful and Strong, a charity album a bunch of the MLR guys were putting together. Unfortunately, it didn't make the cut, but I still wanted to share it with you guys, because I was pretty happy with how it turned out regardless.
The song isn't necessarily Pony-related per se. It is more of an homage to fantasy, and the human mind's ability to create worlds beyond reality. It's dedicated to anyone who has ever created a fantasy universe, because whether or not it's Equestria, Pandora, Ooo, Rapture, the Fallout Wastelands, or the ever expanding worlds of Homestuck, the sheer fact that the human mind has the ability to develop these things is absolutely fascinating to me. I only wish real life were nearly as fascinating (I suppose it is in it's own way, but that's beside the point).
Props to GhostXb from MLR for helping with the mixing and mastering. This probably wouldn't have come out so well if it wasn't for his help and advice.
