IT'S HERE. IT'S FINALLY HERE! Please read everything in the description! It's really important! (well, mostly)
OMG WE MADE IT TO EQD! Well, not this video, but WeimTime's video! Wooooo! Check it out: www.equestriadaily.com...
SHEET (PRIMO)*: www.mediafire.com/down...
SHEET (SECONDO)*: www.mediafire.com/down...
MP3 DOWNLOAD**: www.mediafire.com/down...
MIDI DOWNLOAD: weimtime.org/midis
I'm doing this because many people in the past have taken my MIDIs and reuploaded them on their own without my permission. Even though they credit me, it greatly interferes with my viewership, as well as that of my partner, WeimTime. Oh, and speaking of which, WeimTime just hit 20,000 subscribers!!! He'll be uploading Lullaby for a Princess as well, along with some fancy animations and editing! Go over to his channel and congratulate him!
* Since this is a duet, there are two piano parts: Primo and Secondo. The person playing the primo sits on the right, and the person playing the secondo sits on the left. In the video, the blue and green notes are the left and right hands of the secondo player, respectively. The orange and yellow notes are the left and right hands of the primo player.
Most of the primo part is in treble clef, while the secondo part is mainly in bass clef. For this particular piece, the primo part is much harder than the secondo part. So if you and your friend are playing this together, you might want the more advanced player sitting on the right. Don't worry, the melody is played by both players at different times, so you'll both get the melody at some point!
As for the sustain pedal, there are no pedal markings on either of the sheets. It's up to the secondo player to play the pedal however he/she wants (conventionally, that's the job of the secondo player). So although the secondo part is easier, that person does have the extra challenge of using the pedal.
** I'm sorry that this transcription is so soft. I was working with a new program that has a really high-quality piano called Kontakt. I was playing around with it so I could have better sound for this piece. Anyways, whenever I turn up to normal volume levels, it starts clipping really badly. So what you're hearing right now is the loudest it can get without huge amounts of clipping. Still, Kontakt is a pretty cool product. I may or may not use it for future transcriptions. If I do, it'll be after I'm more experienced with it.
---
I was planning on making a solo version, but unfortunately, I won't be doing so. Why? Well, I listened to some of the solo versions that were already made by other people, and I didn't find one that really captured the grandness of the whole piece properly. I'm not saying the transcriptions are BAD. They have the right notes, tempo markings, etc. However, they simply don't do the piece justice. And I don't think I could make a better solo version either. The solo versions that you'll find are pretty much the best result you could hope for.
Now, I know there are a couple issues with the transcription, particularly with the tempo. BLAME THE ORIGINAL COMPOSER. There are DOZENS of tempo changes all over the place, and it's REALLY hard to account for all of them and make the transcription match the original version.
The tempo wasn't the only thing that really annoyed me. The key signature is awful. Eb minor is a really hard key to work with. It sounds beautiful, but on paper, it's ugly. The alternative, D# minor, isn't any better. Also, since this is a duet, I had to transcribe for four hands, not two, which obviously takes more work. In addition, IT'S SEVEN MINUTES LONG. It seemed like I would NEVER get to the end of this darn piece. What's worse is that there are very few repetitions in the piece, and when it does repeat, it's always a variation. Basically, I can't do copy+paste and move on. I've got to copy+paste, then edit it because it's slightly different.
Overall, this whole experience was AGGRAVATING. Now I can't even listen to the original piece without being reminded of the countless hours I spent transcribing this thing. I hope that I never get anything this long and this hard ever again (that's what she said).
Ughhh... Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this video. Comment, rate, subscribe... You know the drill. Next project? I dunno. But it better not be like this song.
